| Newspaper Article: | Mrs. Fila Funk was in Pittsfield last week visiting her sister, Mrs. T.B. Hall. R.D. Barkley and son Harry went to Kansas City last Wednesday to buy cattle. Miss Vera E. Fuller, teacher of the Williams school, spent Saturday in Quincy. Clarence Morgan and wife and children attended the fall festival at Pittsfield. Mrs. Leroy Foster, of Plainville, Ill., was a visitor in our city last Wednesday. Leo Hoyt was in Pittsfield last week and purchased a car of yearling mules in that vicinity. Charles Emerson and Logan Morey, of New Canton, were visitors in our town last Friday. Mrs. Fila Funk was called to Kinderhook Tuesday morning to attend the case of Mrs. Edwin Johnson. Mrs. C. L. Hoskins, Mrs. Mary Reed and sons Paul and Clement and Samuel Kendrick, all of Pittsfield, spent Sunday with Mrs. Fila Funk. Miss Irene Early was in Pittsfield during the fall celebration in that city, and while there was a guest at the home of Charles McCaffrey. Judge Lyman McCarl, of Quincy, came down Friday to call on his brother, Levi McCarl, who is a critical condition at his home north of this city. Capt. H.L. Hadsell and wife went to Quincy yesterday, where they will attend the annual reunion of the Twenty-eighhth Illinios regiment and the big Round Up. N.H. Kinne, who has been in Wichita, Kans., for some time, returned to Barry Sunday, and after a visit of a few days will re-enter the Soldier's Home in Quincy. W.W. Watson, will leave to-morrow for Chicago to attend the Masonic grand lodge. W.L. Curlis will represent Barry lodge and W.R. Wilson will represent Baylis lodge. A party consiting of M.L. Davis and wife and James Huff and wife, of this city, and A.D. Davis and wife, of Britton, Mich., made the trip to Quincy in the former's car Monday. Dr. W.H. Johnson has returned from his trip to Wichita, Kan., and Tulsa, Okla, for a visit with his daughter, Mrs. Ralph Stauffer, and Marion Stauffer. He also met George Underwood. Harry Hutchinson and wife, of Hannibal arrived here Sunday morning for a visit with Theo. Doran and wife, Mrs. Ray Lewis and Miss Kate Carswell. The women are sisters. They were accompanied by George Bowen and wife and son. Mrs. A.J. Swap, after a months visit with relatives and friends, left Saturday morning for her home to Clinton, Mo. Her sister, Jennie Mitchell, and nephew and niece, Harold and Mildred Wagy, accompanied her as far as Hannibal, Mo. I.O. Gray and wife, who now make their home in the Quincy Soldiers' Home, arrived her Thursday for a visit with relatives and old friends. They formerly lived in Barry, but left here many years ago. Mr. Gray is a nephew of Ben Gray and served in the Civil war in the Sixteenth Illinois Infantry. |
